Welcome to: If Male Superhero Costumes were Designed Like Female Superhero Costumes!

Aaaaa I dunno. I got tired of guys having no idea why girls find female superhero’s costumes kinda sexist, so I, um, made this?

My main goals were: 1) Make it so the first thing you think of when you look at them is sex, whether you want to or not. 2) make it so that any male human who looks at this feels really uncomfortable. 3) make it funny, because, well, it’s kinda hilarious really.

Not trying to start a war here, just wanted to poke a bit of fun.

So, here you go menfolk, welcome to being a girl who likes comics.

I am…surprisingly okay with Batman’s costume.

I welcome you to people who don’t know what they are talking about!

And guess what? There are a lot of men that dress SKIMPIER than women.

Hell. Technically, Venom, Carnage, and Toxin are all NAKED.

Hulk only wears pants. ONLY pants.

Thing? Only pants. Sometimes only underwear.

Namor? Underwear. Human Torch? Completely naked.

This is a two way street, where most people only bother looking in one direction.

Laaadies.

Well hey if you think Venom and Carnage are sexy. Still, I half agree with your point.

But that doesn’t mean there aint the dominance of the young geek male target audience. In the comics the men are nearly always what these geeks want to be, the ladies nearly always being objects of desire. Especially in the what older comics.

You can say you don’t want to be, but if you look at the general feedback it makes sense.

As for skimpier, for one reason or another it’s acceptable for a bro to be shirtless. Namor being modeled after some swimming athlete with his speedos, and some female characters go in that direction as well.

It’s also possible to find a counterpart for the male you provided with female ones. Starfire’s reboot being one example (how can anybody forget that one anyway).

So yeah, it is a two-way street, however these men you named are not really designated for lust but for aspiration. You see them in dominant or threatening poses instead of the tits and ass broken spine postures the females get even when in battle. Unless you’re Rob Liefeld. That guy loves twisting everybody for the sake of butts.

The art is still funny though.

Hold up, did this dude seriously just say that the Human Torch is NAKED?

NO HE IS NOT. He wears a modified bodysuit that is designed to withstand his high temperature when he turns into a flame. YOU CAN EVEN SEE THE NUMBER 4 ON HIS SUIT WHEN HE’S A FIREBALL.

Also, all the men who dude claims to be dressed “skimpier” are NOT put out to be “sexy.” There is NOTHING sexual about the way this guy is posed:

He is shirtless with rippling muscle to portray how much DESTRUCTIVE POWER he has at his disposal. The message you get from this picture is not “Ooh, sexy muscles…” You get “Oh fuck. RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!!! THIS MAN WILL KILL US ALL!!!!!”

Compare that with the treatment you see for female characters:

This woman has a RIDICULOUS outfit on which shows off gratuitous amounts of ass and cleavage for NO TACTICAL REASON. Please tell me what purpose, other than to produce arousal in the reader, does this outfit serve? This outfit does not convey power. It conveys “I am sexy all the time. Look at my sexy body and how sexy I am. By the way, did I mention how sexy my body is?”

If we had a TRUE equivalent for this kind of thing in the mainstream comic book world, it would look like this:

His pose and facial expression conveys a coy nature, not one of power. He’s essentially giving the viewer a come hither look. There are unnecessary holes and gratuitous bulges in his to convey sex appeal. THAT is how the two way street happens.

Just reblogging this for that last picture, really

LOVE THIS!!!!
